Comparison shopping is just a marketing buzz word for, well, regular shopping. After all, isn’t all shopping somewhat of a comparison in and of itself? Well Saverr (someone got drunk with the spelling) promises to help you compare even more things through crowdsourcing the lowest prices on the things you love to buy.

Let’s get some housekeeping out of the way. First, can we stop with the damned double letters or no vowels thing? It was cute like 5 years ago but, srsly guys… it’s time to get your shit together. Second, the tag line for Saverr, apparently, is that it is “a million dollar app”, which is equally stupid. Those were the only two negative things I have to say about this app. This review can now continue.

What Is Saverr?

Saverr is one of the coolest apps I’ve ever used. Basically, Saverr is a huge crowdsourcing tool that allows folks to use the app to report what they paid for certain items. Saverr works by allowing users to scan their receipts with their phone’s camera. Once the app has a good image it will “scan” the receipt and do a local search for all the things you purchased and the prices at other stores. So, you can search for all the crap you probably didn’t need to buy but wanted to buy at Target, scan your receipt and learn if you could have bought those items cheaper at, say, Walmart or Best Buy…
